Max O’Dowd shines with a brilliant innings in Netherlands’ record-breaking win

Kathmandu – The Netherlands secured a historic 4-wicket victory against hosts Scotland in the ICC World Cup League 2, completing one of the highest successful run chases in ODI cricket.

In the match played on Thursday, the Netherlands chased down a massive target of 370 runs in 49.2 overs, losing 6 wickets. This marked the first time the Netherlands achieved such a monumental chase, setting a new national record.

Max O’Dowd was the architect of this record-breaking win, playing a sensational unbeaten knock of 158 runs off 130 balls, including 13 fours and 4 sixes. This was his maiden ODI century, and he surpassed Wesley Barresi’s 137 (against Kenya in 2014) to become the Dutch batter with the highest individual score in an ODI.

Other contributions for the Netherlands included Michael Levitt (44 runs), captain Scott Edwards (32 runs), Wesley Barresi (15 runs), Teja Nidamanuru (51 runs), and Noah Croes (50 runs).

Scotland’s bowling was led by Safyaan Sharif, who took three wickets, while Mackenzie Jones and Mark Watt claimed one each.

Earlier, at Forthhill Ground, Scotland won the toss and elected to bat, posting 369/6 in 50 overs. Opener George Munsey delivered an explosive 191 off 150 balls, with 14 fours and 11 sixes, marking the highest score of his ODI career.

Other contributions for Scotland came from captain Matthew Cross (59 runs), Michael Leask (28* runs), Charlie Tear (23 runs), and Brandon McMullen (21 runs).

For the Netherlands, Aryan Dutt and Michael Levitt took two wickets each.
