Nepal score 211 against Hongkong, Captain Sony Pakhrin Smashes Explosive 90

In ACC Women’s U-19 Premier Cup 2026 at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepal posted a massive total of 211/6 in their allotted 20 overs against Hong Kong, China.

After winning the toss, Hong Kong, China U-19 elected to field first, but the Nepali batters put them under pressure right from the start. Nepal suffered an early setback when Sana Praveen, who had remained unbeaten on 98 runs in the previous match, was dismissed for just 4 runs. However, captain Sony Pakhrin and Sabitri Dhami then stitched together an outstanding partnership to put Nepal in a commanding position.

Nepal lost their first wicket with Sana Praveen scoring only 4 runs. She was caught by Wong Wing Kiu Hailey off the bowling of Nimbra Arab. After that, captain Sony Pakhrin and Sabitri Dhami shared a magnificent 136 runs partnership for the second wicket.

Sabitri Dhami played an aggressive and impressive half-century, scoring 52 runs off 36 balls. Her innings included 6 fours before she was run out following a throw from Leung Man Kei Megan.

Captain Sony Pakhrin was the standout batter for Nepal. She produced a performance that is rarely seen in Nepali women’s cricket. Pakhrin played a brilliant innings of 90 runs from just 60 balls, striking 13 fours and 1 six. She fell just 10 runs short of a century before being stumped by wicketkeeper So Wan Tung off the bowling of Arooj Fatima.

Batting at number four, Anjila Pathak managed just 1 run from 2 balls. Karuna Bista added 5 runs from 4 balls before being run out, while Krishma Gurung scored 1 run from 3 balls and was trapped lbw by Nimbra Arab.

Towards the end of the innings, wicketkeeper Alisha Kumari Yadav played an attacking knock, remaining unbeaten on 23 runs from 12 balls, including 3 fours. Riya Sharma remained unbeaten on 8 runs from 7 balls, helping Nepal finish on 211/6 in 20 overs.

Extras also made a significant contribution to Nepal’s innings. Hong Kong, China’s bowlers conceded 20 wides and 7 no balls, gifting Nepal a total of 27 extra runs.

Among Hong Kong, China’s bowlers, Nimbra Arab was the most successful, taking 2 wickets for 44 runs in her 4 overs. Wong Wing Kiu Hailey and Arooj Fatima claimed one wicket each, while Arna Senthivel and Leung Man Kei Megan went wicketless.

Having posted a challenging total of 211/6 in 20 overs, Nepal have set a target of 212 runs, with Hong Kong, China U-19 yet to begin their innings.
