Surkhet — Madhesh Province Women U-19 registered a convincing 29 runs victory over Bagmati Province Women U-19 in the Women U-19 National Cricket Tournament. Madhesh U-19 posted 140 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, while Bagmati could only manage 111 runs for 9 wickets in second innings.
After winning the toss, Bagmati Province elected to bowl first. However, an outstanding batting performance from Madhesh opener Sana Praveen helped her team post a competitive total.
Sana Praveen remained unbeaten on 68 runs off 60 balls, striking 11 boundaries and providing a solid foundation for the innings. Fellow opener Alisa Yadav contributed 21 runs.
In the middle order, Pratima Sah scored 18 runs from 16 balls, including four boundaries, while Bhumi Singh added 21 runs; remaining batters failed to reach double figures.
Bagmati’s bowlers struggled to contain the scoring and found it difficult to take wickets consistently. Kabya Rawal was the most economical bowler, claiming 1 wicket for just 13 runs in her 4 overs. Sambhavya Dhakal and Krishna Gurung also picked up one wicket each.
In response, Bagmati Province failed to get off to a strong start. Opener Sabika Kumari Yadav scored 18 runs, while number three batter Laxmi Rumba Lama made 14 runs. Batting at number seven, Aili Yadav top scored for her side with 35 runs off 32 balls, including four boundaries, but was unable to guide her team to victory. No other batters made a significant contribution as Bagmati’s innings ended at 111/9 in 20 overs.
For Madhesh Province, Pratima Sah delivered an excellent all-round performance, taking 3 wickets for 13 runs in her 4-over spell. Sakshi Kumari Yadav and Bhumi Singh claimed one wicket each. Madhesh also effected four run outs during the innings, putting additional pressure on the Bagmati batters.
Pratima Sah was named Player of the Match for her match-winning all-round performance. In addition to scoring 18 runs, she took 3 wickets and played a crucial role in Madhesh’s victory.
With this win, Madhesh Province remains at the top of the points table, having won all three of their matches and maintaining a superior net run rate. Sudurpashchim Province occupies second place, while Gandaki Province is in third. All three teams have 6 points each, but Madhesh and Gandaki have played one match fewer than Sudurpashchim.
