Gandaki Province Women U-19 Defeat Sudurpashchim by 4 Wickets

Surkhet, June 9, Gandaki Province Women U-19 cricket team defeated Sudurpashchim Province Women U-19 team by 4 wickets, maintaining their unbeaten win in the tournament. Gandaki successfully chased the target with 11 balls to spare in the 20-over match.

After losing the toss, Sudurpashchim Province was invited to bat first. Gandaki justified their decision to bowl by reducing Sudurpashchim to 49/9 at one stage. However, Manisha Khatri and Ashika Mahara added a valuable 38-run partnership for the last wicket, helping their team reach a respectable total. Sudurpashchim were eventually bowled out for 87 runs in 19.5 overs. In reply, Gandaki Province chased the target of 88 runs in 18.1 overs, losing their 6 wickets.

Sudurpashchim had a moderate start, but their middle order failed to capitalize. Manisha Khatri was the top scorer with 21 runs. Ashika Kumari Mahara remained unbeaten on 12, while Sabitri Dhami and Karuna Bista scored 9 and 10 runs respectively. No other batter managed to reach double figures.

For Gandaki U-19, Rachana Chaudhary delivered an outstanding bowling performance, taking 5 wickets for just 6 runs in her 4 overs. Her devastating spell made scoring difficult for the Sudurpashchim batters. Jenisha Sharma claimed 1 wicket with an economical spell, while Ayushma Chapagain picked up 4 wickets for 14 runs in 2.5 overs. She carried the responsibility to take wicket after Rachana’s overs done.

Chasing 88, Gandaki also got off to a poor start as Salina Sen was dismissed for a duck. However, Jyotsnika Marasini (17 runs) and Rachana Chaudhary (27 runs) played crucial innings to guide their team toward victory.

Serina Thapa remained unbeaten on 17, while Aakriti Tiwari contributed 2 runs. Gandaki completed the chase with 11 balls remaining despite losing 6 wickets.

For Sudurpashchim, Manisha Khatri bowled well, taking 2 wickets for 10 runs in her 4 overs. Anju Karki claimed 1 wicket for 24 runs in 3 overs, while Sneha Mahara and Sabitri Dhami also took one wicket each.

Rachana Chaudhary was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance, scoring 27 runs and taking 5 wickets.
