Asian Games Qualifier: Nepal Reach Final After Defeating Oman

Kathmandu – Nepal advanced to the final of the Asian Games men’s cricket qualifying tournament in Singapore after securing a comfortable victory over Oman in the semifinal.

In the match played this morning at the Singa Oval Ground, Nepal defeated Oman by 8 wickets.

Chasing a modest target of 95 runs, Nepal reached 95/2 in just 9.2 overs.

For Nepal, Lokesh Bam remained unbeaten on 44 runs, while Rohit Paudel was also not out on 21 runs. Earlier, Kushal Bhurtel scored 20 runs, and Aasif Sheikh contributed 1 run.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Oman were bowled out for 94 runs in 19.4 overs. Oman’s captain Sufyan Mehmood top-scored with 38 runs, while Zubair Ali Akbar added 22 runs.

For Nepal, Karan KC took 3 wickets. Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed 2 wickets each, while Shahab Alam, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Kushal Malla picked up 1 wicket apiece.

Nepal will face the winner of the other semifinal between Hong Kong and Malaysia in the final. That match is scheduled to begin at 12:15 PM.

All four semifinalists—Nepal, Oman, Hong Kong, and Malaysia—have already qualified for the Asian Games.
