Century by Dipendra Singh Airee helps Nepal set 290-run target for UAE

Kathmandu – Nepal has set a target of 290 runs for the UAE in the ICC World Cup League 2 match. Playing at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Nepal scored 289 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Dipendra Singh Airee scored a century, while Binod Bhandari contributed 56 runs. Gulshan Jha made 44 runs, and captain Rohit Paudel added 39.

In his debut match, Arjun Kumal was dismissed for 11 runs, while Aarif Sheikh also scored 11. Bhim Sharki was dismissed without scoring.

This is Nepal’s third match of the series. Last Saturday, Nepal defeated the UAE by 37 runs but suffered a heavy 102-run loss against Oman. Meanwhile, the UAE secured an important 2 points by defeating Oman by 25 runs.

In the eight-team League 2 standings, Nepal is currently in seventh place with 14 points from 22 matches, while the UAE has 12 points from the same number of games.

The United States leads the table with 36 points from 24 matches, followed by Scotland (34 points from 28 matches), Oman (29 from 25), the Netherlands (28 from 24), Namibia (22 from 28), and Canada (21 from 24), occupying the top six positions.

In the previous League 2 cycle, Nepal had finished third with 40 points to qualify for the World Cup Global Qualifier, but they are currently far from that position.
