Nepal Loses to Oman in Rain-Affected Match

Kathmandu – Nepal suffered a defeat against Oman national cricket team on wednewsday s match under the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.

The match, held at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, saw Nepal lose by 102 runs. Chasing a target of 306 runs, Nepal had reached 155 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 36.5 overs when rain interrupted play. As the rain did not stop, the match could not resume, and Oman was declared the winner based on the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method.

For Nepal, Dipendra Singh Airee top-scored with 60 runs off 62 balls, hitting seven fours and one six. Bhim Sharki added 28 runs, while Aasif Sheikh scored 19. Arif Sheikh and Gulshan Jha contributed 14 runs each, and captain Rohit Paudel was dismissed for 10.

For Oman, Nadeem Khan took 3 wickets, while Shakeel Ahmed picked up 2 wickets.

Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Oman posted 305 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Jatinder Singh played a innings of 130 runs off 96 balls, hitting 15 fours and 5 sixes. Jiten Ramanandi scored 43 runs, while Aryan Bisht added 35. Hamad Mirza made 30 runs, Aqib Ilyas contributed 23, Vinayak Shukla added 23, and Wasim Ali remained unbeaten on 12.

For Nepal’s bowling, Sompal Kami took 4 wickets, conceding 59 runs in 9 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee claimed 2 wickets each.

This was Nepal’s second match in the ODI series involving Nepal, the UAE, and Oman. In the earlier match, Nepal had defeated United Arab Emirates national cricket team.

Nepal will next face the UAE again on May 1.
