Nepal Defeated by Scotland by 2 Runs

Kathmandu –  Nepal was defeated by the home team Scotland by 2 runs in the triangular ODI series under the ICC Cricket World Cup League-2.

The match, held at the Forthill Cricket Ground in Dundee, Scotland, saw Nepal chasing a massive target of 324 runs but managing to score only 321 runs in the allotted 50 overs.

For Nepal, Bhim Sharki contributed the most with 73 runs. He played a 73-run innings off 85 balls, including 8 fours. Bhim formed a 94-run partnership with Arif Sheikh, who scored 39 runs off 55 balls with the help of 5 fours before being dismissed.

Similarly, vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee added 56 runs off 51 balls, including 2 fours. He shared a crucial 105-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Sompal Kami, who scored 67 runs off 44 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes before getting out.

Scotland’s McKenzie Jones took 3 wickets, while Shafiya Sharif and Michael Leask claimed 2 wickets each. Brandon McMullen and Charlie Casell both took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Scotland posted a total of 323 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs.

For Scotland, Richie Berrington was the top scorer with 102 runs off 114 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes. Michael Leask remained unbeaten on 96 runs off 62 balls, hitting 12 fours and 3 sixes.

Similarly, Charlie Tear made 68 runs off 65 balls, including 9 fours. Mark Watt remained unbeaten on 21, and Finlay McCreath contributed 17 runs.

For Nepal, Karan KC and Dipendra Singh Airee took 2 wickets each, while Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi claimed 1 wicket.
