Kathmandu – Nepal has been defeated by Vanuatu in the ICC Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy.
In the match held today at the Gahanga Cricket Oval in Kigali, Rwanda, Nepal lost to Vanuatu by 22 runs. Chasing a target of 98 runs, Nepal was bowled out for 75 runs in 15.3 overs.
For Nepal, Samjhana Khadka was the top scorer with 24 runs, hitting 4 fours off 19 balls. Similarly, captain Indu Barma scored 13 runs and Kabita Kunwar added 10, while no other players managed to reach double figures.
For Vanuatu, Vanessa Vira and Nasimana Navaika took three wickets each.
Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Vanuatu scored 97 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Valenta Langiatu was the top scorer for Vanuatu with 42 runs off 50 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Likewise, Nasimana Navaika scored 18 runs, while Selina Solman and Susan Stephen contributed 10 runs each.
In bowling for Nepal, Riya Sharma took 2 wickets conceding 11 runs in her 4 overs. Manisha Upadhyay, Kabita Kunwar, and Rachana Kumari Chaudhary took one wicket each.
Nepal will next face the United States on April 26.
