Mayor Cup Cricket from Tuesday

Sunsari – The third Mayor Cup Inter-Municipality Cricket Tournament is set to begin in Itahari, Sunsari, from Tuesday.

The organizing Ideal Sports Academy announced at a press conference in Itahari today that the tournament will be held from Baisakh 15 to 21 at the Janata Cricket Ground in Itahari–9.

According to CP Paudel, President of the Sunsari District Cricket Association and coordinator of the tournament, the T20 cricket event is being organized in collaboration with Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City and with the support of the Koshi Province Cricket Association.

A total of 12 teams will participate in the tournament. The participating teams include three teams from Itahari, along with teams from Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Inaruwa Municipality, Duhabi Municipality, Barahakshetra Municipality, Mechinagar (Jhapa), Triyuga Municipality (Udayapur), Katahari Rural Municipality (Morang), and Sunwarshi Municipality.

The winner of the tournament will receive NPR 75,000 along with a trophy, while the runner-up will get NPR 40,000 and a trophy. Similarly, the “Player of the Series” will be awarded NPR 7,000, and the best batter and best bowler will each receive NPR 4,000.

Biratnagar Metropolitan City had won the title in both previous editions of the tournament.
