Kathmandu –Nepal secured a victory over hosts Rwanda in the ICC Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy.
In the match held today at Gahanga Cricket Oval in Kigali, Rwanda, Nepal defeated Rwanda by two wickets. The home team set a target of 89 runs for Nepal, which was successfully chased down in 19.4 overs with the loss of 8 wickets.
For Nepal, Samjhana Khadka was the top scorer with 48 runs. Similarly, Puja Mahato contributed 13 runs, while Bindu Rawal added 10 runs.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Rwanda were bowled out for 88 runs in 19.4 overs.
Only four Rwandan batters managed to reach double figures. Alice Ikuziwe scored the highest with 17 runs, followed by Merve Uwase with 15, Clarisse Umutoniwase with 13, and Rosine Uwera with 12 runs.
For Nepal, Rachana Chaudhary took 3 wickets, while Puja Mahato and Kabita Kunwar claimed two wickets each. Manisha Upadhyay and Riya Sharma picked up one wicket apiece.
The tournament, organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), is being played in a double round-robin league format, where the team finishing at the top of the standings after all matches will be declared the winner.
