Kathmandu – Nepal has been defeated by the United States in a match under the first edition of the ICC Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy.
In the game held today in Rwanda, Nepal lost to the USA by 44 runs.
Chasing a target of 124 runs set by the USA, Nepal were restricted to 79 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
For Nepal, Bindu Rawal was the top scorer with 27 runs. She faced 45 balls and hit one boundary. Kavita Joshi scored 11 runs, while no other batter managed to reach double figures.
For the USA, Mahi Madhavan and Tarnum Chopra took two wickets each, while Ritu Singh, Lekha Shetty, and Sainavi claimed one wicket apiece to bowl Nepal out cheaply.
Earlier, batting first, the USA scored 123 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs.
Nepal will play their second match of the tournament against Italy on Sunday.
