$14 Million Reward for India After T20 World Cup Win

After creating history by winning the T20 World Cup for the third time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a cash reward of $14 million for the Indian men’s cricket team.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the BCCI said the prize money would be awarded in recognition of the “historic achievement” of the players, coaches, support staff, and selectors. Board secretary Devajit Saikia said the success has established India as one of the most successful teams in the history of the T20 format.

India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final held in Ahmedabad on Sunday, lifting the trophy for the second consecutive time. With this victory, India became the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title. As a co-host of the tournament, India also became the first country to win the T20 World Cup on home soil.

The announced cash reward will be distributed among the players, coaches, and the entire support staff. In addition, India will receive $2.34 million from the International Cricket Council (ICC) as the tournament champion, while runner-up New Zealand will receive $1.17 million.
