Police advanced to Final, Bagmati Province Defeated by 8 Wickets

In the 5th match of the Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup 2026, Nepal Police Club registered a convincing 8-wickets victory over Bagmati Province. The thrilling encounter, which lasted two days, Police delivered an outstanding all-round performance with both bat and ball to secure a comfortable win.

Bagmati Province leads by Sandeep Lamichhane, were bowled out for just 185 runs in their first innings. Karan KC led the bowling attack brilliantly, claiming four wickets to dismantle Bagmati’s batting lineup. In response, Police declared their innings at 334 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 70 overs. Kushal Bhurtel played a magnificent knock of 96 runs, while the captain Aarif Sheikh contributed a steady 53 runs.

In their second innings, Bagmati managed 237 runs in 62.2 overs. Ishan Pandey scored a fighting with 80 runs, and tail batter Bibek Magar added 45 runs. Lalit Rajbanshi starred with the ball for Police, taking five wickets to strengthen Nepal Police Club’s grip on the match.

Chasing a modest target of 89 runs, Police comfortably achieved the total in just 15.1 overs, losing only two wickets. Sohail Kunwar remained unbeaten on 35 runs, while Karan KC smashed a quickfire 21 runs.

For his outstanding all-round performance, Karan KC was named Player of the Match. He took four wickets (4/27) in the first innings and one wicket (1/38) in the second, while also contributing 29 and 21 runs with the bat.

With this victory, Nepal Police Club have signaled their strong presence in the tournament and advance in to the final of second edition of Jay Trophy. Police was the defending champion of Jay Trophy. In the first edition of Nepal 1^st multi-day cricket tournament, Police beat Army for the 1^st ever title on 2025.

Final is scheduled for 01, March, 2026, Sunday at TU Cricket Ground.
