Police Club lead by 60 runs
February 26, 2026The first day of the fifth match of the Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup, Nepal Police Club have secured a commanding 60-run leads with Bagmati Province lead by Sandeep Lamichhane. At Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Police Club win the toss and opt to field first, inviting Bagmati Province cricket team to bat.
Bagmati Province were bowled out for 185 runs in 53.5 overs in their first innings. Bipin Acharya remained unbeaten on 46 runs, while Surya Tamang contributed 24, Ishan Pandey added 41, and Gautam KC scored 21 runs. The remaining batters are failed to reach double figures.
Karan KC claimed four wickets for Nepal Police Club, while Lalit Rajbanshi picked up three with Sagar Dhakal, Rashid Khan, and Kushal Bhurtel chipped one wicket each.
Bagmati’s innings witnessed a flurry of wickets at regular intervals. Losing their first wicket at just 5 runs, they slumped to 38/4 in 16 overs. Though Ishan Pandey and Bibek Magar attempted to steady the innings with a brief partnership, the Police bowlers maintained relentless pressure. A fighting 50-run stand for the tenth wicket between Bipin Acharya and Surya Tamang helped Bagmati post a respectable total.
In reply, Police Club made a strong statement with the bat, reaching 245/4 in 49 overs by stumps. Kushal Bhurtel played a sparkling knock of 96 runs, while Shankar Rana scored 48, Amit Shrestha added 39, Dilshad Ali remained unbeaten on 37, and captain Aarif Sheikh was not out on 17. Bhurtel completed his half-century in just 43 balls but could not convert to century, short by just 4 runs.
Police stitched together crucial partnerships, including a 107-run stand for the second wicket between Kushal Bhurtel and Amit Shrestha, and a 77-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Dilshad Ali and Shankar Rana.
Sandeep Lamichhane claimed three wickets, while Ishan Pandey took two. Rijan Dhakal, Surya Tamang, Gautam KC, and Bipin Acharya grabbed one wicket each.
