Kathmandu – Three matches are scheduled today in the ICC T20 World Cup.
The first match will see Afghanistan take on the UAE at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi under Group D.
Having lost both of their previous matches, Afghanistan must win today to keep their slim Super 8 hopes alive.
The second match will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata at 3:15 PM, where England will face Italy in Group C. Italy had earlier stunned Nepal with a victory in this group.
If England lose to Italy today, their path to the Super 8 stage will become difficult, while Italy’s chances will improve significantly.
The third match of the day will feature Sri Lanka against Australia at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The match will begin at 7:15 PM local time. The winner of this Group B clash will move closer to securing a Super 8 spot.
Out of 40 group-stage matches, only India have officially qualified for the Super 8 stage so far after 30 matches.
Meanwhile, Nepal’s Super 8 hopes ended following their defeat against the West Indies yesterday. India also secured a dominant victory over Pakistan in yesterday’s match.
