Pakistan Takes Revenge Against USA

Kathmandu – Pakistan secured their second consecutive win in the T20 World Cup on Tuesday, strengthening their chances of reaching the Super Eight stage.

In a Group A match held in Colombo, Pakistan defeated the USA by 32 runs. With this win, Pakistan avenged their Super Over loss to the USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Chasing a target of 191 runs, the USA managed only 159 for 8 wickets. It was their second consecutive defeat. Andries Gous and Shayan Jahangir put on a 42-run opening partnership, but the team failed to capitalize.

Jahangir scored 49 runs off 34 balls. Towards the end, Shubham Krishnamurthi completed a half-century, scoring 51 runs.

For Pakistan, Usman Tariq took 3 wickets and Shadab Khan claimed 2.

Earlier, Pakistan posted 190 for 9 in their 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan scored 73, while Babar Azam contributed 46 runs.

Farhan hit 6 fours and 5 sixes in his 41-ball innings. Shadab added 30 runs late in the innings. For the USA, Saurabh Netravalkar (listed as Syed in some reports) took 4 wickets for 25 runs.

New Zealand vs UAE

New Zealand also secured their second consecutive win, moving to the top of Group D.

They registered a dominant 10-wicket victory over the UAE in Chennai, collecting four points from two matches and strengthening their Super Eight chances.

Chasing 174 runs, New Zealand reached 175 without losing a wicket in 15.2 overs. Tim Seifert scored 89 and Finn Allen made 84, sharing an unbeaten partnership.

Seifert hit 12 fours and 3 sixes off 42 balls, while Allen struck 5 fours and 5 sixes in his 50-ball innings.

Earlier, the UAE scored 173 for 6. Alishan Sharafu made 55 off 47 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Muhammad Waseem remained unbeaten on 66 off 45 balls, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes. The pair added 107 runs for the second wicket. This was UAE’s first match of the tournament.

Netherlands vs Namibia

In Tuesday’s first match, an all-round performance by Bas de Leede helped the Netherlands defeat Namibia by 7 wickets.

In the Group A match, chasing 157 runs, the Netherlands scored 159 for 3 in 18 overs. De Leede remained unbeaten on 72, hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes. Colin Ackermann scored 32 and Michael Levitt added 28.

With this win, the Netherlands have 2 points from 2 matches, bouncing back after losing their first game and staying in contention for the Super Eight.

Namibia had earlier scored 156 for 8. Opener Jan Frylinck made 30 and Jan Nicol scored 42 off 38 balls, including one four and two sixes.

Gerhard Erasmus contributed 18 and JJ Smit added 22. For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede took two wickets each. Winning the toss and choosing to bowl proved to be the right decision for the Dutch side.
