Bangladesh Crowned ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier Champions

Kathmandu – Bangladesh became champions of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier after defeating the Netherlands by seven wickets on Sunday.

Bangladesh remained unbeaten throughout the tournament to secure qualification for the Women’s T20 World Cup. From the same qualifier, Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands also booked their places in the World Cup by finishing second, third, and fourth respectively.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5. In the tournament, these four qualified teams will compete alongside host England, Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

At the Mulpani Cricket Ground, the Netherlands batted first and scored 102 runs for the loss of six wickets. In reply, Bangladesh chased down the target comfortably, scoring 105 runs for the loss of three wickets in 16.4 overs. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana played a key role with an unbeaten 50 runs.

Meanwhile, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Ireland secured their World Cup spot by defeating Thailand by 62 runs on Sunday.
