India Defeated by New Zealand

Kathmandu – New Zealand have won the second match of the ongoing three-match One Day International (ODI) series against India.

In the match played on Wednesday night, New Zealand defeated India by seven wickets, leveling the series at 1–1. With this result, the final ODI has become the series decider.

After losing the toss in Rajkot, India batted first and scored 284 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs. For India, KL Rahul played an unbeaten century, scoring 112 runs, while captain Shubman Gill contributed 56 runs. Rohit Sharma scored 24 runs and Virat Kohli added 23. Among other batters, Ravindra Jadeja scored 27 runs and Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed 20 runs.

From New Zealand’s bowling attack, Christian Clarke took three wickets, while Kyle Jamieson, Zak Foulkes, Jaden Lennox, and Mitchell Bracewell claimed one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 285 runs, New Zealand reached the target with 15 balls to spare, losing only three wickets. Daryl Mitchell played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 131 runs. He faced 117 balls and hit 11 fours and two sixes. Will Young scored 87 runs, and together with Mitchell, added a crucial 162-run partnership for the third wicket. Glenn Phillips remained unbeaten on 32 runs.

For India, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.

Earlier, India had won the first match of the series by four wickets. The final and decisive ODI will be played on Sunday in Indore.
