Kathmandu – The Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2026 has been officially announced by the BCCI, and the selection has sparked a lot of discussion. The biggest surprise is the omission of Shubman Gill, who has not been included in the squad for the mega tournament.
Instead, the selectors have shown faith in players like Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh, both of whom have earned their places in the team with strong performances.
Suryakumar Yadav has been named the captain of the side, continuing his leadership role in the shortest format of the game. All-rounder Axar Patel has been appointed as the vice-captain, highlighting the team management’s confidence in his abilities and experience.
Sanju Samson will take on the role of wicketkeeper-batsman, providing flexibility and depth to the batting lineup.
The squad features a balanced mix of explosive batters, reliable all-rounders, and a strong bowling attack. Alongside established players like Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh, the team also includes young talents such as Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Harshit Rana. Spin options are strengthened with the inclusion of Varun Chakravarthy and Washington Sundar.
The BCCI shared the full list of selected players on social media platform X. With a combination of experience and youth, the Indian team will be aiming for a strong performance in the T20 World Cup 2026.
