Kathmandu – Lumbini Lions have won the title of the Nepal Premier League Season 2. In today’s final, Lumbini defeated Sudurpaschim Royals to lift the trophy.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sudurpaschim Royals were bowled out for 85 runs in 19.1 overs.
Chasing a modest target of 86 runs, Lumbini reached the target in just 9 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Dinesh Adhikari top-scored for Lumbini with 42 runs, while captain Rohit Paudel contributed 16 runs and D’Arcy Short scored 14 before being dismissed. Sandeep Jora was out for a duck.
For Sudurpaschim, Hemant Dhami claimed two wickets, while Avinash Bohara and Dipendra Singh Airee took one wicket each.
Earlier, Ishan Pandey was the top scorer for Sudurpaschim with 33 runs. Captain Dipendra Singh Airee added 13 runs, while Harmeet Singh and Scott Kuggeleijn scored 10 runs each. None of the other batters managed to reach double figures.
Vinod Bhandari, Deepak Bohara and Puneet Mehra were dismissed without scoring, while Sheldon Jackson and Avinash Bohara made one run each. Aarif Sheikh was out for six runs.
Lumbini’s bowlers dominated from the outset, with captain Rohit Paudel, Reuben Trumpelmann and Sher Malla picking up three wickets each. Rohit Paudel claimed a hat-trick in the 11th over, while Tilak Bhandari took one wicket.
With this victory, Lumbini Lions crowned themselves champions of the Nepal Premier League.
