Kathmandu- The final match of the ongoing second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will be held on Saturday.
The title clash between last year’s runner-up Sudurpashchim Royals and Lumbini Lions will take place at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur at 3:30 PM.
Sudurpashchim reached close to the title after defeating Biratnagar by 77 runs in the first qualifier.
Lumbini secured their place in the final by eliminating Biratnagar with a 40-run victory in the second qualifier. Biratnagar had earned a second chance to reach the final despite losing the first qualifier to Sudurpashchim.
Led by Dipendra Singh Airee, Sudurpashchim is considered one of the strong contenders for the title. Last year, they lost the final to Janakpur Bolts by 5 wickets, and this time they aim to lift the trophy.
Under the leadership of Rohit Paudel, Lumbini — who were knocked out in the league stage last season — are determined to bring home the trophy at any cost.
In the league stage of the current edition, Sudurpashchim had defeated Lumbini by 7 wickets.
The NPL champion will receive Rs 1 crore 10 lakh, the runner-up will get Rs 51 lakh, the third-place team Rs 25 lakh, and the fourth-place team Rs 15 lakh.
Organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the tournament began on Mangsir 1 with the participation of eight teams.
