Kathmandu – Sudurpashchim Royals have defeated Pokhara Avengers by 18 runs. In the ongoing Nepal Premier League match at Kirtipur Cricket Ground, Pokhara, chasing a target of 194 runs, managed to score 175 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
For Pokhara, Kushal Bhurtel scored 53 runs, and Jimmy Neesham added 47, but Dan Douthwaite’s 37 runs were not enough to secure victory.
Bipin Khatri, Sumit Verma, Kiran Thagunna, Abhishek Tiwari, Dinesh Kharel, and Adam Rossington failed to reach double digits.
For Sudurpashchim, Harmit Singh took two wickets, while Hemant Dhami, Dipendra Singh Airee, Naren Saud, Scott Kuggeleijn, and Avinash Bohara claimed one wicket each.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Sudurpashchim posted a total of 193 runs, with Josh Brown top-scoring with 68. Binod Bhandari made 43, Chris Lynn scored 31, Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 15, Scott Kuggeleijn added 8, Harmit Singh made 4, and Arif Sheikh was dismissed for a duck. Likewise, Ishan Pandey and Naren Saud remained unbeaten on 6 and 4, respectively.
For Pokhara, Jimmy Neesham took three wickets, while Dan Douthwaite and Akash Chand claimed two wickets each.
In their first match, Pokhara had lost to Biratnagar Kings by 53 runs. Meanwhile, Sudurpashchim had produced an unexpected performance, defeating Kathmandu Gorkhas by 29 runs.
In the previous edition, Pokhara and Sudurpashchim faced each other once in the league stage, where Sudurpashchim secured a narrow 5-run victory.
