Visually Impaired Women’s T20 World Cup: Nepal Registers Second Victory

Kathmandu – Nepal has claimed its second victory in the inaugural Visually Impaired Women’s T20 World Cup. Powered by a half-century from Binita Somai, Nepal secured an exciting 8-wicket win against Australia.

Facing Australia for the first time in the history of visually impaired women’s cricket, Nepal earned an important win with Somai contributing a crucial 56 runs. She was also named Player of the Match.

In the match held in Bengaluru, India, Nepal successfully chased the target of 137 runs, losing only 2 wickets in 14.5 overs. Somai remained unbeaten with 56 runs off 37 balls, hitting 5 fours.

Earlier, Australia had scored 136 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Nepal had defeated Sri Lanka by 9 wickets in the opening match and lost the second match to India by 85 runs. Nepal will play its next match against the United States on Sunday.

Nepal is participating in the World Cup under the captaincy of Geeta Paudel and the vice-captaincy of Binita Pun.

The team consists of:
Binita Somai, Delhi Sara Dhamala, Devaki Thapa Magar, Angila Dhakal, Mankeshi Chaudhary, Kanti Dagaura, Sarita Ghimire, Sunita Bhujel, Sushma Tamang, Poonam Chaudhary, Laxmi Tamang, Esra Maya Lungeli Magar, Bimala Rai, and Pratibha Rai.

The head coach is Puransingh Khatri, assistant coach Narendra Niraula, and team manager Bhagwati Bhattarai Baral. The tournament is organized jointly by India and Sri Lanka.
