All 20 Teams Confirmed for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Including Nepal

Kathmandu – The full list of 20 teams that will compete in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka next year, has been finalized.

 

The final spot was confirmed after the UAE defeated Japan by 8 wickets in the Super Six stage of the Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier.

 

Earlier, Nepal and Oman had already secured their places in the T20 World Cup from this region.

 

In the decisive match held last night at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Japan batted first after UAE won the toss and chose to field. Japan posted a modest total of 116 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

 

In reply, UAE comfortably chased down the target with 47 balls to spare, losing just 2 wickets. Alishan Sharafu top-scored with 46 runs, while captain Muhammad Waseem added 42 and Rahul Chopra contributed 14 runs.

 

Out of the 9 teams participating in the Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, Nepal, Oman, and the UAE have qualified for the World Cup.

 

Previously, hosts India and Sri Lanka had automatically qualified, along with Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA, and the West Indies—based on their performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup as the top 7 finishers.

 

Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan qualified through ICC rankings.

 

Additionally, Canada qualified from the Americas regional qualifier, Italy and the Netherlands from the Europe regional qualifier, and Namibia and Zimbabwe from the Africa regional qualifier.
