Kathmandu – Already qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup through the Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifiers with two games to spare, Nepal will take on Samoa today with the goal of clinching the championship title.
The match will begin at 4:15 PM (local time) at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amerat.
If Nepal defeats relatively weaker Samoa, they will be crowned champions of the Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifiers.
This will be the first-ever encounter between Nepal and Samoa. Nepal remains the only unbeaten team in the tournament and currently tops the Super Six stage with 8 points. Host nation Oman sits in second place with 6 points.
Oman will also face Japan later today. If Oman wins and Nepal loses to Samoa, the champion will be decided based on net run rate.
After defeating Oman by 8 runs the previous day, Nepal’s captain Rohit Paudel said that the team has its eyes firmly on the trophy. He added that the team is getting results as per their hard work and preparation.
The 10th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February–March 2026. Captain Paudel has expressed his commitment to delivering an even better performance at the World Cup.
