India Crushes West Indies by an Innings and 140 Runs in First Test

Kathmandu –  India registered a comprehensive victory over West Indies in the first Test, winning by an innings and 140 runs on Friday. The match, held in Ahmedabad, concluded within just three days, showcasing India’s dominance with both bat and ball.

 

After declaring their first innings at 448 for 5, India invited West Indies to bat again. The visitors were bowled out for just 146 runs in their second innings, following their first innings total of 162.

 

India’s batting was led by centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja, who built a commanding total that put immense pressure on the West Indian side.

 

India’s bowlers continued the momentum in the second innings. Ravindra Jadeja shone with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 54 runs. Mohammed Siraj picked up 3 wickets, Kuldeep Yadav claimed 2, and Washington Sundar chipped in with 1 wicket.

 

For West Indies, Alec Athanaze scored 38, while Justin Greaves contributed 25 runs, but no substantial partnerships were formed to challenge India’s lead.

 

With this victory, India takes a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. The second and final Test is scheduled to begin on October 10 in New Delhi.
