Nepal Defeats Malaysia by 6 Wickets in Second T20I, Levels Series 1–1

Kathmandu – The Nepal women’s national cricket team claimed victory in the second match of the T20I series against Malaysia, leveling the five-match series 1–1. The match was held at the YSD-UKM Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

Chasing a modest target of 92 runs set by Malaysia, Nepal reached the total in 16.2 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

Puja Mahato starred with the bat, scoring a match-high 39 runs. Captain Indu Barma remained unbeaten on 27, while Rubi Poddar added 15 runs.

Nepal had a shaky start, losing two wickets for zero runs. However, a 43-run partnership between Puja and Rubi for the third wicket stabilized the innings. Puja then shared a 37-run stand with Indu to guide Nepal to victory.

For Malaysia, Aina Hamizah took 2 wickets, while Nur Dania Syuhada and Nur Alya claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, Malaysia won the toss and opted to bat first, posting 91/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Aina Hamizah was the standout performer for the hosts, scoring an unbeaten 50 runs. Captain Winifred Duraisingam contributed 15 runs.

Nepal’s bowling was led by Somu Bista, who took 2 wickets, and Kabita Kunwar, who picked up 1 wicket.

Nepal had narrowly lost the first match of the series by 3 runs. With this win, the five-match series is now tied at 1–1. The third T20I will be played on Sunday.
