Nepal vs Malaysia Women’s T20I Series Begins Today

Kathmandu – The five-match T20 International (T20I) series between the Nepal and Malaysia national women’s cricket teams kicks off today.

 

The opening match will be held at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval in Kuala Lumpur, starting at 11:45 AM Nepali time.

 

For the series, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a 14-member final squad. Senior player Sita Rana Magar makes her return to the national team through this series against Malaysia.

 

Along with Sita, Somu Bista, Rachana Chaudhary, Yashoda Bista, and Sabitri Dhami have been included in the squad, replacing five players from the previous lineup. Players Ishwori Bista, Sabnam Rai, Bindu Rawal, Roma Thapa, and Manisha Upadhyay did not make the cut this time.

 

Before this series, Nepali players had participated in the Malaysian Super Women Series, a domestic tournament held in Malaysia.

 

The tournament was won by Southern Jaguars, which featured Nepali players Rubina Chhetri, Sonu Bista, and Puja Mahato. The team Central Super Girls, captained by Sita Rana Magar, finished as runners-up.

 

Nepal’s vice-captain Puja Mahato was named Player of the Series, while Kavita Kunwar of Northern Queens was declared Best Batter of the tournament.

 

All 14 players selected for Nepal’s national squad in this Malaysia series had represented different teams during the Super Women Series, giving them valuable match practice ahead of the internationals.

 

The Malaysia tour is part of Nepal’s preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, which will be held in Nepal in January 2026.
