Kathmandu – India has clinched a record ninth Asia Cup title after defeating Pakistan by five wickets.
India won the toss and opted to bowl first. With an outstanding performance from Kuldeep Yadav, the Indian bowling attack bundled out the entire Pakistani team for 146 runs in 19.1 overs.
Chasing a target of 147 runs, India reached the mark in 19.4 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Tilak Varma played a brilliant unbeaten knock, scoring 69 runs off 53 balls with three fours and four sixes. Rinku Singh hit the winning boundary to seal the victory.
Other notable contributions for India came from Shivam Dube (33), Sanju Samson (24), and Shubman Gill (12).
Among Pakistani bowlers, Faheem Ashraf took 3 wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Pakistan were bowled out for 146 runs in 19.1 overs. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 57 runs, while Fakhar Zaman made 46 and Saim Ayub contributed 14.
India’s Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball, claiming 4 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel each took two wickets.
Tilak Varma was named the Player of the Match, and Abhishek Sharma of India was awarded the title of Player of the Tournament for his consistent performances.
