Kathmandu – India has secured a place in the final of the ACC T20 Asia Cup with a 41-run victory over Bangladesh in the Super Four stage, with one game still remaining.
Chasing a target of 169 runs, Bangladesh were bowled out for 127 runs in 19.3 overs.
Opener Saif Hassan was the top scorer for Bangladesh, hitting 69 runs off 51 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes. None of the other batters could make a significant contribution. Parvez Hossain Emon managed 21 runs, while the rest failed to reach double figures.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav bowled brilliantly, taking 3 wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs. Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah claimed 2 wickets each, while Tilak Varma and Axar Patel took 1 wicket apiece.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being put in to bat at the Dubai Cricket Stadium, India posted a total of 168 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Indian opener Abhishek Sharma was the standout performer, scoring 75 runs off 37 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes.
Abhishek and Shubman Gill provided a solid start for India with a 77-run opening partnership. However, captain Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma were dismissed cheaply for 5 runs each. Hardik Pandya added 38 runs off 29 balls (with 4 fours and 1 six), while Axar Patel remained unbeaten on 10 runs from 15 balls.
For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain took 2 wickets, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mohammad Saifuddin picked up a wicket each.
Earlier in the Super Four stage, India had defeated Pakistan, while Bangladesh had beaten Sri Lanka.
Today, Pakistan and Bangladesh are set to face off, with the winner advancing to the Super Four. India will play its final Super Four match against Sri Lanka on Friday, though Sri Lanka has already been eliminated from the race to the final.
