Why was the USA Cricket Board suspended by the ICC?

Kathmandu – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended the membership of the USA Cricket Board. The ICC Board made this decision citing repeated failures to fulfill responsibilities according to the constitution.

According to the ICC, USA Cricket failed to reform its governance structure, made no significant progress in gaining recognition as the official national body from the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and engaged in activities that tarnished the reputation of global cricket.

The ICC has announced that it will form a “Normalization Committee” to guide necessary reforms in USA Cricket and monitor progress.

Previously, during the 2024 Annual General Meeting, USA Cricket had been placed “on notice,” but since the required reforms were not made, its membership was ultimately suspended in 2025. A similar action was taken in 2016 when the ICC suspended the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
